This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a high poverty area. They are a very diverse population. For many of my students English is a second language which makes things harder for them to comprehend. I have students with varying hurdles to overcome before they even enter my classroom. Many of my students have parents who work more than one job to make ends meet. Several have ADHD, ADD, or Autism.

Remarkably, these students are filled with joy and a love for learning.

The classroom is filled with students at a variety of ability levels.

My Project

My students need a Best Choice Products microfiber futon, a convert-a-bench, and Surf Portable lap desks to allow them to be comfortable in their learning. I want my students to feel comfortable in the classroom, and having these seating options will allow them to be more flexible in their environment.

Giving students choice allows them to feel control over their learning.

As teachers we are always trying to find ways to get students to 'buy into' their learning. Having these different choices will allow them to feel 'buy in.' These seating options will also allow my students to collaborate more efficiently. Moving toward a more collaborative classroom is essential in today's world.
