This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach an accelerated 2nd grade class at a Title I STEM school. My students come from areas of high-poverty and all receive free or reduce lunch. My students are creative and clever. My students love to do hands-on activities, group research projects, and computer activities.
My students are a wonderful group of inquisitive second graders.
My students get very excited about learning new things and doing it in a fun way. They keep me on my toes with their thirst for knowledge.
My Project
My students need flexible seating to provide them with an engaging area to work. Soft seats will allow my students to get out of their desk to work their writing. The seats will be placed in the writing center area, so students can be close to the writing anchor charts to help improve their writing. The students will also be closer to the materials in the center area such as writing binders, paper, crayons, and index cards. Soft seats will allow my students to feel comfortable while they're writing. Donating to this project will allow my students to get out of their hard and uncomfortable chairs for a little while and sit on something more comfortable.
