My Students

I have 23 third grade students this year. My students are energetic, love to read, and thrive on positive attention. They come from many different types of homes and have a variety of learning styles. One of their favorite times of day is when they get to gather in a large group to learn on the floor and then spread around the room to silently read and work on writing. If you come into our classroom during this time, you will see the students are highly engaged and enjoying themselves.

My Project

Every teacher has a classroom that is meant to invite the children to learn in a comfortable environment. My classroom is no different, but they need to be comfortable not only in their desks but also on the floor. These rugs will help the students be able to have a warm and soft place to relax and enjoy learning and reading while on the floor.

I have designed my instruction so that the children are not sitting at desks all day.

These rugs will help the children feel more welcome to learn through the entire room during independent reading time and whole group time.
