Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title I school where 90% of our students receive free or reduced-priced meals. Close to 50% of our school's students are English Language Learners (ELL). In my class, over half of my students are ELLs.

There is a diversity of languages/dialects spoken at the homes of my students which makes for a culturally diverse classroom.

My students are bright, motivated, empathic, and joyful learners. Most of my students come from working-class families. They also deal with hardships that stem from their socioeconomic status. I want to create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that will allow them to become life long lovers of learning and to allow them to dream of dreams that they didn’t think were possible.

My Project

We're coming back to the classroom! I'm so excited to be able to provide a safe and loving environment to my students. In order to achieve that, I want to make sure to provide my students with the basic materials they will need to use day by day in class.

My students will benefit from having interactive journals that will go over phonics, parts of speech, place value, arrays and so many more skills throughout different subjects.

To continue to support my students' learning, anchor chart paper will make a difference in my students' learning by giving them a visual on skills and concepts that can be difficult to grasp. Magnets will allow me to place these anchor charts on whiteboards easily. Continuing to provide the basic materials for my students, I am asking for erasers and paper for activities. Having these materials for my students will make a huge difference in their lives and learning!
