Help me give my students a fun, interactive way to start their day! With such items as building blocks and puzzles, my students will work together each morning to problem solve and communicate before the real learning begins.
Our school is located in the country where we have beautiful views and are often visited by turkeys, rabbits and even deer! Our small school of approximately four hundred twenty students and only three teachers per grade level is much like a large, extended family. My class this year is filled with twenty-two active 7 and 8-year-olds.
My students live in settings ranging from small neighborhoods to rural country, family farms.
Most of them enjoy typical country living activities, such as riding 4-wheelers, fishing, and playing outside.
The items I have requested will be used each morning as a jump start to our day. Instead of coming to school and immediately sitting down, students will begin their day working on fun, engaging activities first thing in the morning.
Puzzles, building blocks and rotating gears will give my students an opportunity to problem solve and be creative in a safe, fun environment.
Students will choose an activity and a partner or two to work with which will require the team to communicate and work together. My hope is that these problem solving skills will transfer over to our math and reading discussions!
