This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Play time is fun time, I want my students to have enough activities and materials to make our play time valuable.
I teach 24 energetic, ready to learn kindergartens.
For most of my students this is their first school experience and I want for it to be a memorable one! Kindergarten sets the foundation for the rest of their educational careers and your donation will help me maximize their experiences. Our school is located in South Los Angeles, CA. We are a 100% Title 1 school, which means all of our students qualify for free meals.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will enhance our play time. Aside from our recess and lunch play we get to play in our kinder yard twice a week. With the new materials my students will have more choices in activities. Now 6 kids will be able to use hula hoops! They can practice large motor skills like tossing and throwing with the baseball and bat or the ring toss or even the Velcro throw and catch sets. These activities require more than one player, so they can practice sharing and working with others too! With our very own indoor hopscotch carpet and the Let's get Moving activity mats I will be able to keep my class active indoors during rainy day schedules.
This project will motivate my class to be even more active by adding more choices to their play time.
It is important for me to promote physical activity in kindergarten in hopes that it stays with them for life!
