My students are an amazing group of third graders. They are enthusiastic about school and embrace everything we do in class. They love reading, P.E., math, and science. Our school is a kindergarten through eighth-grade school located in rural California. It houses 450 students. Our school is surrounded by forests and mountains and has daily visitors such as geese, turkeys, and deer.
My school had a fire on January 26.
I lost my entire classroom to smoke damage. The materials requested in this project are to help my students and me rebuild our classroom and supplies.
My Project
My students need sketching journals, erasers, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, crayons, Sharpies and story journals.
Next school year, I plan to have my students do a directed drawing sketch with the Sharpies in their sketching journal every week.
Once they have practiced their sketches, they will make a final drawing in their story journals using the Sharpies, watercolor pencils, and colored pencils. When they are done with their picture, they will write a story about there picture.
Students will learn new drawing techniques. They will also learn about color theory. In addition to learning new artistic approaches, students will work on their writing skills by writing narrative stories, which is a third grade standard.
