Our school is located in the country where we have beautiful views and are often visited by turkeys and deer! Our small school of approximately 420 students and only three teachers per grade level is much like a large, extended family. My class this year is rather large for our school with 26 active 7 and 8 year olds.
My students live in settings ranging from small neighborhoods to rural country family farms.
Most of them enjoy typical country living activities such riding 4-wheelers, fishing and playing outside.
My Project
I am on a quest to equip my second grade classroom with a Chromebook for every two students! There are several ways this would benefit our classroom. First of all, our school district provides several online learning programs for each child to use that specifically targets their strengths and struggles that we use daily. Having these Chromebooks would allow more students more time to work through these programs. Secondly, there are other programs I would like to use but in order to use them efficiently, I need more computers for my students to work on so that I can work with small groups. And finally, in addition to simply having access to the internet, my students need more opportunities to learn essential typing skills. Having additional Chromebooks would allow them more time to type their writing pieces as well as answer questions from our reading lessons.
