Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

First grade is the year when our kiddos make the greatest learning leap! They're taking in so much information and growing those little, but mighty brains or theirs. When my kiddos arrive, they're at various reading and learning levels. Many of them are learning English and are at different proficiency levels. Typically my kiddos enter into First grade reading at a level C or D and should leave reading at a level I. Many students will reach their First grade goals by the end of the year, but there are others who need a little extra support and TLC to make the progress they need. On the flip side, there are also kiddos who need more! They need enrichment and iPads will give every student opportunity to practice reading, listening, and even speaking skills during center and workstation rotations through the many educational and exciting apps.

Nowadays, technology has so much to offer students in the classroom in such a fun and engaging way.

Having iPads in our classroom, we can make learning more fun while also personalizing it to meet each student's particular need. We hope you will help make a difference in our classroom!

My Project

Having the iPads will allow for differentiated learning in our classroom. Kiddos will use the iPads to explore different educational apps and websites to enrich their learning in various subjects at their own pace. Another way my students will use the iPads is for reading a wide variety of texts, tracking their own reading growth, and quizzing their book knowledge. They will do this using various reading apps such as Kids A-Z and Accelerated Reader. I try to have my kiddos use the iPads as much as they can as a means of growing content knowledge, but also to grow their technological knowledge. Beyond that, using the iPads, my kiddos will be able to build upon their speaking, listening, reading, and in some cases, writing skills which are very important for them as they are English-Language Learners!

My project will make a difference because kiddos take charge in their own exploration and growth and 21st century learners!

With these iPads, our kiddos will be able to interact with technology, work at their own pace, and engage in fun and interactive learning!
