To be blunt: our school is under-resourced, 100% of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch, and there is about $200 in the budget for my classroom. It can be extremely difficult to provide all the necessary items for a warm, fun, and engaging classroom when these factors are at play.
First-grade is my favorite because everyone is so silly and curious, and I always get so many hugs!
Despite the challenges, my kids are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and do-ers! They come to school every day ready to learn and grow. I am so proud of their resilience and tenacity. I am so lucky to work with them every day!
My Project
Fly Guy, Biscuit, Pete the Cat...these are some of our favorite buddies in first-grade! We love reading about all their crazy adventures; we just can't put these books down.
As beginning readers, we need material that will allow us to learn but also keep us engaged.
High-interest, low-level readers are perfect for those reluctant readers. When the story is THAT good, we can't help but keep going.
These are the books that I need to bring to my classroom library. We will use them for independent reading, literacy centers, read-alouds, and more! The earlier our kids learn to love reading, the better off we'll all be!
