Students in my classroom come from 15 different Native American tribes in South Dakota, North Dakota and Nebraska. They live nine months of every year at school, with little to no contact with their families. They come from a variety of home lives but are at our school with the hope of a brighter future. Many of my students have become accustomed to not having the newest resources or technology, but they still persevere.
Within a few months of being in my classroom, they learn that they can achieve things that many thought they never would.
They are reading harder books (sometimes even their first chapter book), doing harder math problems, and able to do their own research on things that interest them.
My Project
We are requesting earbuds with microphones and an organizer to use with our classroom iPads.
Students love using the iPads in various learning platforms throughout the day, however some apps are noisy and when there are 17+ making noise in the classroom it can be a distraction to others.
In addition to having a sound capability I want earbuds with microphones so students can use those when creating videos and slideshows on their iPads. Most recently we have been taking pictures of our flowers twice a week as they grow. Towards the end of April students will create a video, slideshow, or other presentation to explain what happened with their flowers. Having microphones and with their headphones would be so beneficial for this project!
In addition to the earbuds we are requesting some card stock for printing student task cards, posters they create, etc.
