My Students

Readers are leaders, and that is what my students are! I teach a hard-working and unique group of fourth graders who love to read! My students love learning new things by researching in books.

Reading can be a boring subject, but when we get our neon read on, it makes the words jump off the page, literally!

We love to learn everything as hands-on as possible. Immersing ourselves in hands-on reading helps us to remember what we’ve read and apply it to new tasks.

My Project

After attending the Get Your Teach On Conference, I was inspired to recreate the neon read toolkits we got, so all of my students would have these. The highlighters allow students to separate information that's needed and not needed for answering text-dependent questions. The black lights help them see the highlighted information jump out at them.

By allowing my students to learn in new ways, they will remember information that could be difficult for them.

I aim to have my students remember information forever, not just memorize it for a test. The musical instruments will be used in a punctuation activity to help them edit their writing and to have a working knowledge of proper punctuation.
