Get Your Game On!: Elementary After School Board Game Club

My students need strategy board and table top games for our after school board game club. Duplicate copies of each game will allow for group teaching and play.

My Students

The students at my school love to learn, be involved, and be hands on. SES regularly hosts clubs and activities, as well as Reading/Fitness/STEM Nights with great participation from parents and students alike.

100% of my students have family members who serve in the armed forces, as our elementary school services an Air Force Base.

As a reward day at the end of first semester, I allowed students to bring in board games for a class period. Students loved doing this, and I realized an after-school club would give them a chance to play games weekly. Our enrollment in the club has already hit 60 students, with more signing up by the day!

My Project

Our elementary board game club allows students to stay after school and bond with their classmates while playing board games. While we already have several classic games to stock our club's shelves, the ones listed in this project promote critical thinking skills and strategy instead of relying on chance and luck. I have ordered a wide variety of games, so I can have several groups playing different games at the same time.

The best part about board games is that they get students to interact with each other face to face, instead of with a phone, iPad, or computer screen.
