Get Up and Move in STEM

My students need the CBR 2 motion detectors to incorporate STEM into their learning. They can be used to increase creating plans, problem solving and testing their plans. Students will be able to graph their results.

My Students

My third graders are very enthusiastic about learning. They are hard working and like to explore. We do a variety of activities doing individual work and group activities.

My students love hands on activities and learning through physical experience.

Teamwork and cooperation are very important to us. The supplies will allow the students to have opportunities to perform STEM through physical, engineering and graphing activities.

My students live in a small community and our district includes only our school, which includes Preschool through 6th grade. As they move into middle school, they merge into the neighboring district.

My Project

The CBR 2 will be connected to a computer to record the data and allow my students to include physical activity into their learning.

The activities that can be created using the CBR 2's will allow the students to incorporate math, science, technology engineering and physical activity all in one.

They will start by creating a plan. they will use the motion detectors to sense their movements and they will see their movements on the computer screen. Then next step will be for them to make graphs showing the line they were trying to replicate from the computer screen and all of their results.

Students will also give each of the groups two pieces of feed back. One will be a Way to go.. The other will be did you think about trying...
