This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am an early childhood special education inclusion teacher in a Pre-Kindergarten classroom at an elementary school. My students with disabilities are fully included into the general education classroom and curriculum.
With our growing class size we need more tables and space for the children to complete small group work. This year we have three small groups during our work time, but one group either uses the rug area or two small student desks that we have pushed together. Inevitably there is never enough table space for this group to complete their work without having to shuffle materials around.
I personally bought a table like this a few years ago and it's perfect for our Pre-K children. There is enough room to accommodate eight children and also have room for the materials needed to complete any project.
We need a horse-shoe shaped table which is unique because it has a small carved out defined space for eight children. This groove in the table provides an individual space for each child. This promotes respect of personal space and the space of their peers. Also we have color-coded our work groups and having a blue table top would be a great added bonus!
This year we are working on making our classroom all about access for all the kids. Having a space to work is the first thing a teacher and her students need to begin a great lesson. Your donation will provide my students a space to create all their artistic masterpieces, to write stories in their journals, and will help them focus as their teacher delivers a magical math lesson.
