My Students

Third grade is so different now than when I was in school, especially in Florida. Today's third grader must be independent and goal oriented. They need to read and write well in order to successfully move to fourth grade. I want to help them on that path and prepare them for upper elementary.

I wish you could talk to these terrific third graders.

I have a class of 16 sweet, funny, smart, insightful 9 year-old boys. They're inquisitive and question everything. they love to research and figure out the answers. I want to make this school year their best experience yet.

My Project

I have a classroom of very active 9 year old boys. As we learn higher-order thinking skills, focusing is of paramount importance. It's boring to sit in the same place day after day! While we get up and move around the classroom often, we would like to have some different seating choices.

Alternative seating, such as wobble stools, floor cushions, and chair bands, has been shown to help students be more productive.

Wobble chairs and seat cushions help with bounciness at the desk. They give busy feet and bottoms something to do. Floor cushions allow students to stretch out for reading or center work.
