My students need 6 Kore Stools to help those who struggle with focus to move their bodies without bothering their classmates allowing those students to focus as well.
Have you ever watched a child try to sit still? They wiggle and squirm even while trying very hard to sit still. For some children it is even more difficult. They should not get in trouble for their body's need to move.
My school is a true melting pot of cultures, economic status, homes, and families.
This school is considered high poverty, over 60% of our students are economically disadvantaged, dependents of deployed military personnel, and eligible for free and/or reduced breakfast and lunch. We have over 10 different cultural backgrounds in our classroom with such diversity as Alaska Native, Samoan, Filipino, and American Indian. Our neighborhood has small apartments as well as large houses for homes of my students. Some are even living in hotels as they can't find reasonable housing.
Many of my students struggle with attention and focus issues. They try to focus for learning but have a hard time remaining focused on their work so they end up bothering their other classmates.
My Project
The 2 Kore Stools I already have are constantly in use by my students with many of them requesting them on a daily basis. In fact, there is someone begging to use the stools every day. They love being able to move and not get into trouble for their movements.
They are able to move their bodies but without distracting their surrounding classmates. The bottoms of these stools are not flat and this forces the students to constantly be adjusting their balance. The stool helps them to sit with better posture and turn their attention when needed.
These stools will make a huge difference in our learning environment.
Student who are wiggly can move without getting into trouble. The students who sit near them are no longer bothered by their classmates wiggles. Everyone wins with improved focus for learning and we will be able to learn so much more.
More than half of students from low‑income households
