This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have all heard the phrase, "STEM Education," but what about the tools a teacher needs for effective instruction in a STEM class? Our school, nor all families in our community, can not afford to buy technology for our teens. In an upper-level math class, a graphing device is an essential tool for student success. Using the TI-Nspire along with additional devices, a TI-Innovator Hub Kit and TI-Innovator Rover, will help students understand the application of mathematics and coding.

My high school students are highly motivated teenagers taking college algebra.

They are dedicated to attending class each day, complete homework assignments, and participate in after-school tutoring sessions when needed while being involved in extracurricular activities or working a part-time job to help support their family. Our school is a Title I school with an increasing number of students qualifying for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program. More and more of our students need extra support for school supplies than ever before.

My Project

The TI-Innovator Hub Kit and TI-Innovator Rover will incorporate coding into the high school math classroom motivating students to think above and beyond. This project will literally get the wheels moving in math class!

The TI-Nspire Handheld is used in class by students to learn and explore mathematics.

The TI-Nspire can also be used as a coding device and along with the TI-Innovator Hub Kit and TI-Innovator Rover to make math move!

The TI-Innovator Hub Kit is a device that students can program to make noise or control other electronic devices therefore making coding and engineering design accessible to students in the classroom. The TI-Innovator Rover is controlled by both the TI-Innovator Hub Kit and the TI-Nspire. Programming the TI-Innovator Rover to move is a fun way to explore math topics and concepts, as well as promote collaborative problem solving, while making the learning visible and engaging!
