My students need 1 pack of Wikki Stix, 2 packs of beads, 1 set of string, and 3 packs of markers to make their tiny fingers stronger! Printing, stringing, manipulating and creating will help them develop better penmanship.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Learning to print is rough. Kids who have not developed the muscles in their hands and fingers will have an even harder time of it. Making a bracelet, drawing a picture or creating a sculpture will be fun and allow them to develop their small motor skills.
My students attend a public school that is located in a lower, middle class community in California.
Most of them did not attend pre-school or have much adult interaction before starting school. Printing and drawing are important skills they must master in order to have success at all levels of school.
My Project
I am requesting 1 pack of Wikki Stix, 2 packs of beads, 1 pack of strings, and 3 packs of markers. My students will be able to sculpt artistic renditions as well as letters and numbers with Wikki sticks. They'll be able to write their name and copy high frequency words with the dry erase markers. They'll make bracelets and necklaces for themselves and others while grasping and stringing the beads. They'll have some fun, creative experiences while making improving their printing, pincher grasp and drawing skills.
Kids should have fun while learning.
Kids should have the ability for creative expression and learn a few things along the way. Stinging alphabet beads is fun & teaches phonemic awareness & phonics. Drawing on a white board is fun & helps them develop their artistic abilities. Bending wax covered yarn is fun & promotes printing through small motor development.
