My students need materials to enhance the learning environment including 32 subscriptions to Weekly Reader, bulletin supplies, primary journals, pencils, and a pocket chart.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Walking into the kindergarten classroom for the first time, children are greeted with a new, exciting, and vibrant environment. How does it get that way? With charter school budget cuts and a struggling economy, it's not that easy, and my classroom can use some help getting ready.
For many of my students the walk into my kindergarten classroom will be their first introduction to school.
This year will give them many firsts - from first writing to first homework assignment. Like other children their age, my students are eager to learn, socialize, and play. Many of the students will only be four years old this fall and they need materials that are age and ability appropriate.
My Project
I am requesting materials that will help my students both in the beginning of the year and throughout. Parents typically provide standard composition notebooks for their children to use in and out of class for reading logs and poetry books. Unfortunately, these notebooks are not appropriate for four and five-year-olds, as the pages are all college ruled. The books I'm requesting have appropriate lines for kindergarten students, along with space for drawing. I am also requesting special pencils to help improve and build fine motor and writing skills. Additionally, I am requesting bulletin board materials and a new pocket chart and stand to help as instructional aids and to beautify the learning environment. Finally, I am asking for weekly reader subscriptions for all of the new students in my class to use throughout the year.
The items I am requesting are tailored to the age of my kindergarten students.
By helping me provide materials specific to my students' needs, you will be helping them do more, learn more, and get smarter!
