This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading can be tough for kids, especially those who are also autism impaired.

I teach first, second, and third grade students with autism who require a specialized autism classroom.

My students typically require a longer period of time to develop proficient reading skills. As I am sure you can imagine, it can get boring reading the same selections over and over again while you are trying to become proficient at any reading level!

My Project

I am requesting a set of King School Series readers by Townsend Press that will increase the book selections for my students. The King Series not only caters to specific reading levels, but the books also cover topics that are interesting to the kids. They can read about birthdays, bath time, pets, play time, bodies, and more. These 60 King Series books will be a great addition to my classroom library. I am also including 4 audio books and enough books for a group of 4 students to be able to read along as they listen. Audio books are so refreshing for struggling readers. They allow students to feel successful and enjoy books they otherwise would not be able to read independent of teacher assistance.

Your donation to this project will help my students continue to develop literacy skills that will increase their independence level, improve their academic success, and allow them to experience the joy of reading.
