My Students

As the only high school PE teacher in our district, I have the opportunity to know every student in our school, and one of the things I love most is how close all my students are. In a small community like ours, everyone knows just about everyone. It is amazing to see how these kids support each other in every kind of situation, good or bad.

Whether it's attending extra-curricular events, helping a family through a tough time, or volunteering, their school and community pride comes out in everything they do.

My students are bright, energetic, fun-loving kids who want to become helpful, healthy members of their community. No matter their individual abilities, they love being active with one another and enjoying each others company.

My Project

Heart rate monitors will allow my students to gain hands on learning for their own personal health. They can track their data and learn the functions and anatomy of the heart. These are light weight monitors that can be worn like a watch allowing students to still move freely. My classroom is a place where I include all types of exercise to give students a multitude of options they can choose from in their future. Currently, we try to take heart rates sporadically to give them an idea, but with heart rate monitors they would have accurate, constant, immediate feedback to their activity.

In today's world, health and fitness are some of the most important life skills students need.

These heart rate monitors will allow them that opportunity. Every student that goes through our district will use them, giving us the opportunity to touch and benefit every students future. This includes not only their personal health, but potentially those around them and even their career choices.
