I am a teacher in a self-contained classroom with 15 students. Setting boundaries within the classroom to teach routine and structure is very important. Having portable dividers will allow for more opportunities to set up stations and boundaries within my classroom to teach students for the opportunities to join typical peers in a general education setting. Children with special needs seek out sensory opportunities and finger painting would be a great way to invite parents to be part of a fun painting day experience. Children of all abilities deserve to be included and feel included.
We have therapy such as PT, OT, and speech within my classroom, and dividing sections off for these opportunities will allow for a functional space without leaving the classroom.
