My students are special to me and I treat them like my own. Our school is the only public school on a beautiful island of Lana'i, population estimated at 3000.
As we begin this new school year 2021-2022, I want to have items in my classroom that will help my students to feel welcomed, safe and loved.
My Project
Now that we are coming back to school full time, students and parents may still be worried because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I want to let them know that we will have multiple opportunities during our instruction to learn outdoors. With our new outdoor mats and large umbrellas, I can take students outdoors to sit and get some instruction, followed by independent working time. They will not worry about wet or hot grass.
Along with outdoor math and reading instruction, I want to practice more health and PE activities with their new jump ropes.
Students have been indoors for over a year now with very minimal physical activity, we need to get that back in action.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
