My Project
As a school counselor, one of the best activities to support student mental health is to help them get their feelings out. Using journals, students are able to get their thoughts out, and then can share their thoughts in a way where we are able to support their mental health. With this project, we would be able to get journals and supplies into students hands. The crayons, and stickers will also support student interest and promote the use of these tools in a non-threatening way.
Students in middle school have a tough time sharing their feelings, but many of them are willing to do so in a private way.
Journaling can make thoughts seem less internal and easier to share with the counselors and social workers charged with supporting their mental health.
