At our Title I middle school, you would never guess some of the many challenges our students face. Despite 50% of our population functioning with 3-4 risk factors, our students come through the doors every day with terrific attitudes and work ethic.
I am proud to be part of helping our racially diverse population of students be empowered and successful, with 45% of the 7th and 8th graders here low income and receiving free or reduced lunch.
And, yet, they are among the most brilliant middle school students one could meet.
My Project
Many of my students come to school without basic supplies. This makes things like homework, classwork, projects etc. more difficult because of organization issues that arise from this lack.
Help me supply my students with basic binders so they can take their schoolwork to and from school without difficulty.
In the past I have supplied small plastic binders but they are limited in their ability to last and contain all my students' work well. With a small stash of fabric binders, I hope that I can alleviate worry from families who can't afford to supply their child with supplies that many of us see as necessity rather than luxury.
