My Students
Classroom organization is a vital aspect in teaching. It helps excel the learning that takes place by the students. I believe that a clean and neat room will help the students learn more easily by limiting the distractions.
At this point in the year, my kiddos are much more independent learners.
They are now instilled with the desire to take charge of their learning. To encourage this, I have started giving my kiddos the freedom to move around the room to find the relevant information that they need instead of spoon-feeding them the answers. Having a well-organized classroom ultimately translates into having more time to educate my students.
My Project
My students need access to a chart organizer. Every time I teach a new topic, we create a new chart. As we progress to the next unit, the chart gets put away or hung up out of sight. When kiddos get stuck on a concept that we already covered, I refer them back to the chart - problem is, the chart is not always to easy to find! Having a chart organizer, will keep all relevant information in one easy spot and enable the kiddos of pursue the information as they need it.
Additionally, I need an Independent Center Pocket Chart. This lets the kids know exactly where they should be and what they should be doing. This tool will help keep the kids on task - therefore allowing more instructional time.
If you ever lived in a messy, untidy area, then you know first-hand how ineffective and unproductive that can be.
Plus the time it takes to waddle through clutter to find what is needed, throws the kids off-task and detracts from the learning process. Please help me show the kids how to get and stay organized from a very young age. Building this skill will serve them well for the rest of their lives.
