This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is a Title I Middle School serving 486 students. I am the librarian and I'm one of a few people at my school that get the wonderful opportunity to service and see all of the students. My school serves students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. My students spend 8 or more hours at school. Many of my students don't get the opportunity to participate in health and wellness activities outside of school. During the pandemic, many of my students didn't get a chance to leave their homes, so anxiety and depression set in because of the isolation. Help me spread joy and love to all of my students at my school. I'm an educator who loves her students and want to give them hope for their future. I must not allow them to give up.

My Project

Due to limited funds and the aftermath of the pandemic, field trips that provide healthy outlets will not take place. There will be no bowling, skating, amusement parks, zoos or hiking field trips this year or in the near future.

With the Oculus Virtual Reality (VR) headsets, my students will be able to burn calories to the fitness apps and games, and all while making fitness fun for them—with workouts in different exotic locations.

In reality, most of my students won't get an opportunity to see these places in person. Some of the fitness Apps that are available are: FitXR, The Thrill of the Fight, Supernatural, Holopoint, VRWorkout, Synth Riders, OhShape and Oculus Move. My students will be able to social distance inside the school or on the outside on school grounds in a safe place and "Get Oculus Fit!" Help me give excitement back to their lives.
