My Project

This project will allow students taking Ancient Mythology Literature, a literature course focusing on Shakespeare, to understand and visualize the text they are studying. The graphic novel format allows for greater comprehension for students struggling with reading. This is a high school course aimed at helping students make connections between the myths and stories that world cultures are based on and how those myths still influence literature today.

Graphic novels encourage readers to explore and think about topics deeply as they have to read all around a page, taking in both the text, the voice, and the illustrations.

My struggling readers will be able to see the story happening at a slower pace than a video presentation, while still incorporating reading skills. We will then be able to have full class discussions about these myths and pieces of literature with everyone understanding the story line. This will allow all readers to more fully comprehend the story thus allowing them to be more successful at applying the themes of the myths in modern literature.
