My Students

Our school has about 100 kids per PE class, and we generally like to keep all the kids moving and active. Do to space restrictions, we generally stay away from large group activities. Our class generally does lots of skill work, to allow for more particiapton.

Our school is a title I school located in Katy, Texas.

Many of our students live in apartments and unable to play outside. Many of the students in our school are on free and reduced lunch. Our students generally like PE, and like to move. They are always willing to work and learn. Being physically active is something that would help them to stay healthy, and in class learning.

My Project

Having sandbells in class would help them learn many new safe fitness and exercise skills they could practice at home in small space. These skills could be on their own or with a partner or group. Sandbells can be used to develop upper body and core strength at the students own pace and level. There are also many videos that can be streamed in class or at home via the Hyperwear channel on You Tube.

Our project will make a difference, by teaching the kids the value of being healthy.

Today, many kids are inside on the computer or playing video games. This has led to many kids who are sick and overweight. Teaching kids new activities to do at home will help promote and teach the value of living a healthy lifestyle.
