Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My scholars come from the inner city and are economically disadvantaged. We recently were victims of Hurricane Harvey. Many of my young students lost everything due to the catastrophic floods. They have been displaced and are living in shelters, with friends, or with family so emotionally they are stressed. What makes my classroom so special is that this is their first year of English. They are transitioning to the English language.
I want my scholars to love the English language, so I want their transition to be smooth.
Therefore, by the end of the school year, I hope they master the English language and have a change of heart about reading and the English language so that they embrace it rather than fight it.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will make a huge impact on my students' bodies and minds because they will have the equipment to play kickball, soccer, and football and to jump ropes. We need jump ropes, cone sets, balls and other exercise equipment. The students will learn how to use the equipment and enjoy it as well. Our scholars will learn the valuable lesson of exercising and making it part of your daily life.
We were recently devastated by the horrific Hurricane Harvey.
Unfortunately, many of our materials and resources were lost during the floods. Hopefully, we will be able to find some generous goodhearted individuals who can bring hope to the lives of our scholars.
