This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a mixture of exceptional learners, English language learners and high poverty students who are hungry to become strong independent readers!

Right now I teach 2 groups of first grade students that are excited to return to my class as second graders next year!

Since I am looping up with my current class next year, I want to give them something to spice up our literacy classroom and wow them when they walk in the door next year!

My Project

The first grade students currently in my classroom will be my second grade students next year! Their minds are growing and hungry for more quality independent reading time! I would love to surprise them next year with a brand new colorful READING RUG!

With this project, my second graders will have a comfy spot to call their own where they can escape into their independent reading time!

I also plan on using the rug in our read aloud area so students have a clean and colorful space to sit and dive into exciting new text.

I feel that it is crucial for students to have that perfect reading spot where they feel comfy and confident to become strong independent readers!
