Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have the most amazing and talented students! They work incredibly hard to be successful. My students attend a public Pre-K to fifth grade elementary school on the Jersey Shore. Our school is located in a high needs area. Over 70% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

Many of these students parents do not have a lot of money, so the family cannot afford to rent or purchase an instrument to be part of the band.

We have been lucky enough to receive donations in the past from the community and from donors through DonorsChoose.org. However, the students still need music and other things to be successful.

My Project

There are some students in my school whose parents cannot afford to rent or purchase a band instrument. I am constantly looking for ways to get instruments for these children to use.

The students whose families are in a bad economic situation, should have the same access to being in the band as other children.

The Pbone and Pbuzz will be used to help students to be part of the band. The PBuzz will help train younger students and the Pbone, will be for the slightly older students to use. This will allow the students to then be full members of the band program and continue on as they get older.
