Get Active: Making Sure Every Student has Access to P E.
My students need more soccer balls and basketballs to practice their skills. We are trying to make sure every student is engaged during physical education lessons.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at an urban school in Los Angeles. Most of my students are not on any organized sport teams. They are encouraged to go out and play but often times they do not have the background knowledge or skills need to be successful at playing sports. With more equipment every student can practice.
My students are very eager to learn new sports.
They often get bored waiting for their turn because we do not have enough equipment. We want the kids to be able to play independently but in order to do so they need foundational skills that can be explicitly taught during physical education class.
My Project
We will use the balls to make sure every student has a chance to practice the skills be taught. The students are more engaged if they are constantly moving and trying to master the skill being taught. In order for the students to be able to play games at recess all of the students need to be taught the rules and skills of any given sport.
Many kids as they get older do not play during recess because they have not mastered the skills needed to be successful.
With daily P.E. lessons our goal is to teach every student the skills needed to be successful at playing games during recess.
