This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a self-contained special education teacher who teaches students that have a variety of disabilities which include, autism, speech and language impairment, ADHD, and dyslexia.

My students have difficulty focusing and staying on task.

My classroom also includes a wide range of recent immigrants from various cultures. I create my own lesson plans to differentiate for every students' learning needs, skills, abilities and cultural diversity. Because it is a Title I school, students often begin the school year without the proper supplies and we have limited resources.

I would love for all of my students to be motivated to learn, have fun, be comfortable and have access to the same materials in order to be successful.

My Project

A classroom carpet will be beneficial for my students so that they get a chance to spread out and be comfortable without being on the dirty, cold, hard floor. They will not be confined to a desk and chair. It is a good meeting area to have by the classroom library to keep the students focused during instructional time. Staying seated at their desks all day, students start fidgeting and getting distracted by things in their desks.

Special education students need a comfortable and cozy environment to learn in and work on classroom activities.

This is why a Flex-Space Comfy Rectangular Carpet will be a great addition to my classroom. Some students with disabilities rather lay down to work and can focus better. Having a carpet will enhance our gathering/meeting area and limit distractions. Unfortunately, a lot of students walk around with bed bugs and lice on them. To avoid spreading this in the classroom, it will be beneficial to have a vacuum cleaner in the room to clean the carpet daily. This Shark cordless vacuum will save space and avoid students tripping over the wire. Students will be able learn home skills by taking turns to vacuum as well.

A classroom carpet will be beneficial during all subjects throughout the entire day. Your generous donation will make a difference in special education students learning by making my classroom more comfortable, inviting and clean.
