This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The name's Geronimo, Geronimo Stilton. He's smart, he's adventuresome--and he's a mouse. Geronimo Stilton hops from adventure to adventure and writes about his experiences. Kids love to read his colorful stories, and he's got lots of them. We just wish we had more of his stories in our class.

I teach in a working class and immigrant neighborhood.

Most of my fourth graders are learning English as a second language, some have special needs, and all of them love to learn. Our Title I school is an important safe haven for my kids, who are surrounded by poverty and gang activity.

My Project

My kids love to read. Our problem is that we are always running out of popular books. Just today, six kids asked if I had any Geronimo Stilton books. Sadly I told them that the four books we have were already passed out to other kids. Pick up a Geronimo Stilton book and you will find references to history, loads of geography, colorful illustrations, and lots of adventure. One minute Geronimo is in Australia, then he's at Mount Kilimanjaro, and the next he is exploring the Pyramids. While the kids are enjoying a vividly illustrated book, they're also learning about places around the world. With popular books like this, I know my kids will read all of the books in the series. We are asking for 32 Geronimo Stilton books.

I know these books will get passed around from kid to kid until everyone has read all of them (and I might read a few myself!). My kids and I thank you!
