Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I truly believe that we have some of the kindest, funny, and caring students on the planet. The students at our school are amazing! They come to school every day with great attitudes and a drive to learn, regardless of their home situations.
Unfortunately, my students have many obstacles in their young lives like their socioeconomic status (all our students qualify for free lunch), their living area, the fact that over 90% of our students are ESL, and the list goes on and on.
Our students overcome these challenges on a daily basis. They come to school, a safe, warm place, ready, excited, and willing to learn. They look up to us and expect great things just as we expect great things of them. I am hoping to be afforded the opportunity to meet my students' most basic needs so they can fully focus on their education.
My students have had very few experiences in their lives and have very few resources available to them outside of school, and that is why I am hoping that you will provide them this opportunity to utilize these resources that they may never otherwise be able to use.
My Project
I am requesting disinfecting wipes and Kleenex because I have a high number of students with seasonal allergies/illnesses and they are in full bloom in Michigan! Every time a student blows their nose a Kleenex (or two) and a wipe is used.
These supplies are used on a daily basis to clean our class and to keep our bodies healthy.
Wow! How fast those cleaning and class supplies go! At the beginning of the school year, I had a cabinet full of Kleenex and wipes but now our shelves are empty. My class would directly benefit from these supplies to keep our bodies and class clean and germ-free. Thank you!!!!
