My students are a great group of committed learners. They have all chosen to be in my German 2 and 3 class to improve their German skills and to continue learning. None of them are required to take this class, but they all did because they truly wanted to learn more German and more about Germany and the other German-speaking countries. They are a fun group that like to work together on projects and immerse themselves in the language. Their enthusiasm for the class makes teaching them an enjoyable experience.
My Project
This book will improve my German 2 and 3 class exponentially. The opportunity to read the German language in a fictional setting will improve my students language skills by immersing them not only in the story but also the language. They will be able to interact with parts of the language (like vocabulary and grammar) at a different level and truly see German in action. It will also add a level of interest, fun, and engagement that can only be achieved on a small scale right now with what I produce. This book is going to give my students a truly memorable experience that will hopefully keep the language with them for the rest of their lives.
I also intend to bring this to my German 1 class after working with the German 2 and 3 students first.
Getting students engaged with the language as early as possible is vital to effective foreign language learning.
