Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a Literacy Coach in a rural Title I school in South Carolina which serves about 400 Kindergarten through Third Grade students. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. The poverty index in our county is 14% higher than the national average. Our students were greatly affected by the devastation of Hurricane Florence this past Fall. Many of their homes flooded, and they lost what little they had.

Despite these hardships and high poverty, our students are enthusiastic about learning and come to school each day excited to learn and do their best.

School for them is a safe and happy place to work and learn.

Because my students come from high poverty, they do not have adequate school supplies, learning resources or books to enjoy at home.

The majority of our students do not have access to computers or technology at home.

My Project

Our 400 Kindergarten through Third Grade students use both of our computer labs every day. That means about 800 hands and 8,000 fingers are touching the computers' keyboards, mice, head phones and computer surfaces every week! Wow, think of all the germs!

With so many busy fingers on those computers, we need to keep our computer lab environments clean and germ free!

With cold and flu season, a clean lab environment is even more important.

Your generous donations will ensure that we have an ample supply of Clorox Disinfecting Wipes to keep our computer labs sparkling clean, germ free, and protect our students from illnesses.
