This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing! Most of them have been at the school since kindergarten, and our school is special because we can really develop a close relationship with each individual student as they grow up.
As a school with a bilingual program, students are immersed in rigorous instruction in both English and Spanish!
There are numerous benefits to being bilingual and students work very hard to access the curriculum despite it being a challenge. We have both Spanish-dominant and English-dominant speakers, which means that 100% of our students are second language learners!
My Project
Hello! This is my first year teaching 6th grade and I'm so excited for the year to come! I was prep for my students, I see that our first math unit is on area and surface area. The curriculum suggests that the students have a geometry toolkit on hand, but I do not have all of the materials in order to do so.
For my students to really dig in and learn the concepts, the tracing paper will allow to copy shapes and understand congruency.
The colored pencils will help them color code for different shapes, angles and whatever else the task at hand requires.
More than half of students from low‑income households
