Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students I teach are very hard workers despite multiple obstacles in their lives. They have grit, perseverance, and a willingness to succeed knowing there may be many cards stacked against them. They may not all be great in math, but they try their best. I work very hard to get them all to see how math is so relevant in their everyday lives.
During the current pandemic, it has been a struggle for my students who are forced to learn from home, but once again they are fighters and are persevering.
Many of my students are attending my virtual office hours and completing the work I have assigned. I am so incredibly proud of all their hard work and effort they have displayed during these had times.
My Project
This project will fund a document camera that I will be able to use in class and during remote learning. The camera will provide the students a clearer way to see me and allow for the personal experience during remote learning. I've also asked for math manipulatives in the form of conic sections. This will truly enhance their content knowledge.
It is so incredibly helpful to provide a physical demonstration of this geometry subject rather than trying to show videos or two dimensional renderings.
I've also asked for everyday essentials to be able to run a smooth classroom. Pencils, paper, and snacks are truly helpful to every student in all my five periods of geometry.
