My students need compasses and protractors in order to create lines and shapes and be able to explore and identify how transformations work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
High school geometry students have become my favorite group to teach. They are coming on from Algebra and learning more about how lines, shapes, congruent, and similar figures work both in and out of the classroom. The students do get very frustrated with geometry, but I enjoy watching the light bulb moments happen every day in the classroom.
I am looking to give my students an experience that they will remember and be able to retain throughout their high school career.
My Project
The compass and protractors will help with my students' learning by giving them a hands-on experience in geometry. They will be able to understand how triangles are congruent, lines are parallel and perpendicular, how to measure angles, and much, much more. These materials give students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and be able to explore what they are learning. They will be able create projects, see the measurements of angle and arcs, and apply their knowledge to the real world.
When students have the real world examples and hands-on experience, they become more invested in what they are learning and will retain the information.
