My Students

Future engineers of America are in my classroom. I have seen their creativity and ingenuity when they are given solid hands-on materials which allow them to actualize their ideas.

My students are four and five years old and attend public school kindergarten in California.

They are culturally diverse, and many are still learning English. Our kindergarten program uses a high degree of hands-on materials to help with developmental learning and to develop true understanding of concepts. We keep worksheets to a minimum so that children are actively engaged in constructing ideas.

My Project

The use of these math manipulative "Magna-Tiles" are incredibly motivating and provide the students with the opportunity to fully understand geometric relationships. They will actually experience how six squares can construct a cube, the difference between a triangle and a pyramid, and how to use symmetry in their constructions as well as many other concepts. The potential for this learning tool is strong.

These Magna-Tiles manipulatives are a wonderful tool to start many of my students on the road to engineering.

It is so important that children have experiences with actual items before trying to analyze these shapes on paper as seen on so many standardized math tests. Please consider giving us this wonderful tool. Thank you.
