My students needs hands-on activities to better explore the world of polygons, polyhedrons, and volume in geometry.

My Students
In my class, we are "Geometric Go-Getters!" To be a G-cubed (as we call it), all you need are energetic students, a whimsical teacher, and great resources. I have the first two items covered, but need help with the last. Supporting us ensures all Geometric Go-Getters get amazing tools to work with.
I am privileged to work with an outstanding group of fifth graders at a fantastic school in Florida.
The school provides the basic materials, but I want the students in my class to have supportive hands-on activities in various aspects of the math curriculum. All my students are energetic and eager to learn each day, and I want them to have the very best resources at their disposal. By helping to fund this project you will ensure that they will build stronger math vocabulary, practice various geometric skills, and even have a bit of fun on their educational journey.
My Project
In this project, I am asking for hands-on activities for the three areas of geometry covered in the fifth grade curriculum; polygons, polyhedrons, and volume. The polygon/polyhedron kit allows my students to build two-dimensional polygons and three-dimensional polyhedrons using sticks and connectors. The polyhedron kit allows students to work with net shapes. The volume kit allows students to build quadrilateral prisms out of cubes and determine the volume of these shapes. I have also requested giant magnetic shapes for reference. The final item is geometry bingo, because lets face it all kids love a game of bingo. These resources will ultimately provide the reinforcement of skills I will be teaching in the classroom, and provide my students with a fun and excitement of learning geometry.
This project is important to me, because I want my student to succeed and be the best mathematicians they can be.
I hope that my passion and determination will ignite the interest in the subject and ensure that all students will excel and develop a passion of their own for all things math.
