This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a lovable set of kids who enjoy life! Many come from difficult situations and a tough neighborhood where there are a lot of factors pulling them in every direction to do the wrong thing.
When they come to school, it is often difficult for them to switch into learning mode without the right tools and materials.
As a school, we hope to help our students by giving them an excellent foundation for their further education. My students hold high hopes for their futures, and I hope to equip them to hold themselves to high expectations for their life.
My Project
This year we are doing a lot of great interactive activities in class. My goal is to boost engagement for students which helps them learn more while feeling like they are having fun and in control of their learning. One of the amazing projects we are planning for the end of the year is a nature adventure where students will student the geography and ecology of our school grounds.
All of the items requested will be so essential to a successful BioBlitz!
The interactive globe will be used to get students ready for their hands on learning experience by learning about geography around the world, as well as in our local area. It will be used beyond the project as well for world exploration and history! The Kindle Fire, with its screen protector and case, will be used to help students identify local flora during our expedition, and will be used by students during regular class time for research and in corroboration with the interactive globe. The texts that are provided in this project are all about world geography and will be used to continue to build students knowledge and understanding of the geography and ecology of the world! My favorite text on the list is the Geographic Almanac, the kids are going to love seeing some awesome images from around the globe, and learning about our world!
