Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In an ever changing and complicated world at Richardson we strive to support students so that they can excel academically and become contributing members in their communities and the larger global society. Teachers and staff at Richardson work to empower students to be the best they can be.
Social Studies is a subject that can empower our youth with the skills necessary to make meaningful social change.
It is my goal to have completely inquiry based Social Science classrooms where students dive into history and current social issues with triggered curiosity. Inquiry based Social Science enables students to have agency over their learning and ultimately become life long learners and agents of change.
My Project
My students need globes to be able to make connections with the geographic concepts we will be covering this year. The globes will be used throughout the year while working on our inquiry based geography unit. Student will use the globes to visualize and reinforce content. Inquiry based curriculum that helps students develop high-level critical thinking skills.
When students have the necessary tools they build agency over their own learning.
By creating student ownership in learning and instilling an inquisitive based / problem solving approach to geography topics, students will be able to apply learned skills and concepts in all subject matters.
