My Project

My English language learners are full of creativity, curiosity, and a desire to understand the world around them. Many of my students come from diverse backgrounds. Despite facing economic and language barriers, they show up eager to learn, especially when I can do fun projects in the classroom.

This project will give students the opportunity to explore geography, earth science, and environmental studies by using air-dry clay to model important landforms and natural features such as mountains, waterfalls, volcanoes, coral reefs, canyons, and more.

Through sculpting and creating, students will not only learn key academic vocabulary and concepts, but they will also explore the role these features play in our climate, ecosystems, and environmental balance.

Project goals include building students’ understanding of physical geography and environmental science, supporting English language development through hands-on learning, and helping students make real-world connections between geographic features and environmental health.

My students are resilient learners from multilingual households, many of whom are new to the country. They thrive when learning is visual, interactive, and meaningful. They may be learning English, but their thinking and creativity know no limits. This project gives them a voice and a way to show their knowledge without being held back by language barriers.
