My Project
This year we have been teaching phonics using a systematic program. My students love learning about phonics patterns and finding them in words all around them. My students are soaking up all of the "rules" and love decoding words. Current research in the Science of Reading proves that students need explicit, systematic phonics instruction in order to become successful readers. Decodable books are an essential part of explicit phonics instruction and provide students opportunities to practice what they are learning independently.
Each book in the collection is designed to cultivate a deep reading experience, enabling students to apply decoding skills while building knowledge.
With beautiful artwork and engaging topics, these texts help students truly enjoy exercising their growing phonetic skills. Geodes were designed to ensure that emerging readers see that learning to read isn’t just about practicing skills. It’s about building knowledge.
