This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach science at a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free lunches. Many of my students come from low-income homes and many struggles both academically and personally.
I teach approximately 100 students per day, and very few of these students have had an in-depth STEM education.
They are eager to learn, and 85 percent of their day is reading, writing, and math. Project-based learning is what keeps them motivated and wanting to learn more. These 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students can do amazing things! During this crazy time, my students are looking forward to getting back into the classroom and creating something amazing!
My Project
I teach and learn with a fantastic group of about 100 junior scientists each day. They look forward to science as a class that they can create, explore and experiment. Labs and project-based learning are key to successfully teaching students how to solve problems in their own lives. Currently, they are learning from home.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help my students become problem solvers!
During this time, when our students are learning from home, they need engaging and relevant science resources. Generation Genius is a teaching resource that brings school science standards to life through fun and educational videos paired with lesson plans, activities, quizzes, reading material and more. All videos are produced in partnership with the National Science Teaching Association, and aligned to standards in all 50 states.
This subscription of Generation Genius will bring science to life for our entire school of approximately 550 students. They will have access to in depth science while learning at home, and when they return to the classroom. Your generous donation will allow us to reach that goal.
