My Students

We are an elementary school with students in grades 1-5, consisting of 750 students. Our students thrive on authentic learning experiences that are tied in to our school's mission and goals. Funding for the arts is difficult and just the basic supplies are able to be purchased with school funds. Our students will benefit by the DonorsChoose.org funding by receiving exposure and access to unique learning opportunities and art supplies that are otherwise unable to be purchased due to a limited budget funding for the arts.

My Project

Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plates are ideal for mixed media art, cardmaking, Artist Trading Cards, and more. Flexible and easy to use, these revolutionary printing plates look and feel like a gelatin monoprinting plate — yet they're durable, reusable, and can be used for years to come. They measure 3/8" thick, and are easy to clean with soap-and-water, hand sanitizer, or baby wipes. Since they are easy to clean they are always ready to use. Help our students fall in love with gel printing! This is sure to become a favorite choice of theirs. So many ways for students to build their creativity skills...

•Fun textures are easy to find ... to get started, try using bubble wrap, plastic grids, foam stamps, stencils, leaves and string to create interesting imagery on your plate.

Use of recycled or repurposed materials will be an emphasis.

•For hand drawn mark-making, use of soft-tipped tools like paint brushes, cotton tipped swabs or soft rubber-tipped tools will help students to use their own ideas to create new masterpieces.
